Wanda Louise Vaden, née Stephens

Aged seventy-three years, Wanda Louise Vaden, née Stephens—Ms. Vaden a retired nurse, a retired lessor, and a beloved mother—passed away at 12:49 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018, at the Obion County Nursing Home. Her visitation will last from 5 until 7 p.m., visitation occurring on Saturday, January 27, in the Union City First Baptist Church's old sanctuary. To come the next day are funeral services. Its pallbearers comprise Stephen Vaden, Sam Vaden, Jason Craig, Will Yates, Clay Billingsley, and Carl Lowrance. Honorary pallbearers comprise Bob Stephens; Gordon McKinney; John Massey, Junior; Allen Nohsey; and The Union City High School Class of 1962. Funeral services will begin at 2:30. Occurring also in First Baptist Church's old sanctuary, her Sunday-afternoon funeral services, Pastor Cecil Sewell to officiate, will conclude with burial at East View Cemetery.

Ms. Vaden entered Obion County on May 27, 1944. Then, she was born to her late parents, Walter B. Stephens and Edythe Mai Stephens, née Adams; her late parents both proprietors of 2-9 Taxi, Union City's original taxi service. Ms. Vaden was also preceded in death by the following: Donald Ray Stephens, her brother who served as a high-school English teacher in Matthews, Missouri; Richard Arthur Stephens, her uncle who served as the proprietor of Union City's Stephens Motel; Marye Lucille Adams, née Stephens, Mistress Adams her aunt who served as an accountant at Union City's Old & Third National Bank; Charles Howard Adams, her uncle who served as Union City's mayor for five years; and John Marshall Vaden, who served as her husband for twenty years. Ms. Vaden's survivors comprise Robert Lewis "Bob" Stephens, her brother who, in Union City, has recently retired from realty via Fuller Partners; Stephen Alexander Vaden, her son who, in Washington, D.C., serves as general counsel for the United States Department of Agriculture; and Samuel Marshall Vaden, her son who, in Union City, still abides as a musician.
