Velma Lucille Canada passed away peacefully in the arms
of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 14, 2023.
Velma Lucille Vandergriff was born December 26, 1932
in Knox County, Tennessee.
Velma Lucille Vandergriff was married on December
11, 1940 to Herman Ray Canada. Lucille was preceded
in death by her husband Herman Ray Canada and her
eldest daughter Linda Rhea Graveen. She is survived by
her remaining children, grandchildren and great
grandchildren. Lucille's children: Ray Canada Jr and
wife Mary, Thelma Fisher and Rob Canada and wife
Amy. Lucille's grandchildren: Shane Fisher and wife
Brittany, Grady Fisher, Jason Canada and husband
Joe Caballero, Chris Canada and wife Kandace,
Amanda Allison and husband Davy, Bethany Boyer
and husband Jordan and Hunter Canada. Lucille's
great grandchildren: Nash Fisher, Quinn Fisher,
Jason Allison, Jacob Allison and Kai Canada.
After the death of her husband along with some
medical issues, Lucille became a resident at Parkview
Heights Care Center in Garnett, Kansas, where she
was loved and cared for until the end. Her aides and
nurses became part of her extended family and loved
her dearly. Lucille was a loving wife, mother and
grandmother (Mama) and had a smile that would light
up the room. Her laugh will forever fill the hearts of
those that she was around as well as the smells from
her kitchen. Lucille was truly loved by all and her
presence in this world will be missed.
A memorial of Lucille's life will be held at 2:00 PM,
Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Mt. Zion Old Cumberland
Presbyterian Church, 7458 State Route 1529, Water
Valley, Kentucky 42085. Lucille's family will greet friends
beginning at 1:00 PM at the church. Lucille's burial will
be next to her husband in Water Valley, Kentucky and is
planned to immediately follow the memorial service.
