Shorty Vaughn

April 22, 1924 — June 2, 2014

Mr. Harold T. "Shorty" Vaughn, age 90, of the Dukedom community died Monday, June 2, 2014 at his home.


He was a member of the Pilot Oak Baptist Church where he served as
a Sunday School Superintendent for 17 years and was a retired truck
driver for Argo-Collier Trucking Company and had worked for Arrow
Aluminum in Martin, TN. He has also been an employee
of the South Fulton School System where he worked as a custodian.
He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II and he had lived
in this area all of his life.


He is survived by two sons Jerry (Margaret) Walston of Pilot Oak, KY
and Michael (Tammy) Vaughn of South Fulton, TN; four daughters Brenda Kay (Billy Joe) McCoy of South Fulton, TN, Diana Fay (Bennie) Brown of
Dukedom, TN, Vicky Lynn (James) Conner and Lori Jean (Cory) Edmison,
both of South Fulton, TN; twenty one grandchildren, fourty great grand-
children and 7 great great grandchildren, two brothers Charles Vaughn of Silver Springs, MD, Johnny Vaughn of Fulton, KY, two sisters Virginia Martin of Fullerton, CA and Dorothy Cross of Texas.


He was preceded in death by his wife Lillie Mae (Cruse) Vaughn,
his parents Beckom and Ruth (Morrison) Vaughn, two sisters and
two brothers.


Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Thursday at the Pilot Oak
Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Pilot Oak Baptist Church
Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Hornbeak Funeral Home from
5-8 pm Wednesday. Mr. Vaughn will lie in state at the church after 10 am Thursday until the funeral hour.
