Sherman Douglas Smith

Sherman Douglas Smith of Peoria, IL died February 14, 2012 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City, TN. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had been a truck driver. He had lived in Peoria, IL all of his life.
He is survived by a daughter Tonja Smith of Fulton, KY and a son and daughter in law Thomas M. and Andrea Smith of Bethpage,TN; seven grandchildren, a great grandchild and five brothers David Smith, Dewayne Smith, Nyle Smith, Sr., and Garnett Smith all of Illinois and Darrell Smith of Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents Wilburn and Garnett (Forsythe)Smith and two brothers Jim Smith and Jay Smith and a sister Judy Goodnight.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, February 24th at the Mounds City Cemetery in Mounds City, IL. There will be no visitation held at the funeral home and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at the service hour.
