Sandra Bumpous

Sandra Elizabeth Bumpous was born May 13, 1949, in South Bend, IN to the late Dorothy Love. She transitioned to her eternal home on April 25, 2023, from Louisville, KY.

At an early age, Sandra joined Mt. Oliver Freewill Baptist Church, in Paducah, KY. She attended Tilghman High School until the family moved to Hickman, KY where she attended and graduated from Riverview High School. After graduation, Sandra joined Job Corp for two years then returned to Hickman where she met and married Bobby Bumpous, a member of the United States Army. Shortly thereafter, they moved to California where he was stationed for two years.

Sandra was a faithful member of Thomas Chapel where she was the secretary for years until she moved to Louisville to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren.

Sandra was preceded in death by her grandparents, Cora and Sanford Turner; parents, Dorothy and Robert Cobb; two sons, Bobby “Joey” and Jeffery Bumpous; a granddaughter, Cierra Bumpous; a brother, Ronald Cobb; a sister, Gale Robinson; and a nephew, Emanuel Cobb.

She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Dionne Mechelle Bumpous; three grandchildren, Ke’Ventre Bumpous, Joyrin Bumpous, and D’Maurie White; five grandchildren; four siblings, Denise (Cobb) Misher of St. Paul, MN, Robert Cobb of Fulton, KY, Rev. Dr. Carole Cobb of Los Angeles, CA, and Valerie Cobb (Bill) Minor of South Fulton, TN; five nieces, Vicki Cobb, Tara Cobb, Tamera Ware, Jamie Turner, and Lexy Jaycox; three nephews, Mitchell Ware, LaRon Williams, and Jared Cobb; several great nieces and great nephews, one great-great nephew as well as a host of special cousins and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sandra Bumpous will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at Thomas Chapel in Hickman, KY. Burial will follow in the Hickman City Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, May 1, 2023 at Thomas Chapel from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 until service time.
