She was a homemaker and had taught piano for many years in
Decatur,Georgia. She was the organist of the First Christiam Church of Decatur and was a member of the Decatur Piano Ensemble.She retired to her family home in the Chestnut Glade community in 1973. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fulton,KY.
She was past president of the United Methodist Women and was very active in all church activities. She has also served as president of the Chestnut Glade Homemakers Club.
She is survived by 2 daughters: Donna McConnell of Martin, TN and
Linda Padgett of Juliette,Georgia. 4 grandchildren: Keith Ross of
Bowie, MD, Travis Ross of Glasboro, NJ, Donald King of Bloomfield,MI and Kathleen Bass of Macon, GA and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband - H. Clay McConnell, her
parents -Dena (Murray) and William Joseph Reed.
Funeral services for Relma Reed McConnell will be held at 11am Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Fulton KY. Burial will follow in the Sandy Branch Cemetery in Weakley Co. TN. Friends may call the funeral home from 5 to 7 pm Sunday. Mrs. McConnell will lie in state at the church from 10am Monday until the funeral hour. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist or Willingham Center.
