Ray Thomas Woodruff “Ray Tom”, 68, passed away peacefully at his rural Henry County, TN home on August 12, 2022.

He was born on February 9, 1954 in Hickman, KY to Elbert and Mildred Woodruff. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Diane French.  He is survived by his son, Dylan Woodruff of Murfreesboro, TN, brothers, Elbert “Woody” (Carla) Woodruff of Centerville TN and Robert (Karen)Woodruff of Toy, TN, sisters, Rose Scribner of Big Sandy, TN and Carole (Joe) Sullivan of Columbia, TN and numerous nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces.

Ray worked in maintenance at the former Goodyear Tire and Rubber plant in Union City, TN, then relocated to California and worked as a superintendent on commercial construction jobs, as a general contractor and as a building and codes State investigator. Upon returning to Northwest, TN. Ray worked as a contractor and retired journeyman millwright in the United Brotherhood of Carpenters.

He was a member of the Bishop Street Church of Christ in Union City, TN. After retirement Ray was a fishing guide on Reelfoot and Kentucky Lakes. He was an avid fisherman and placed competitively in organized fishing tournaments.

Memorial graveside services will be held at Hickman City Cemetery in Hickman, KY on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. Family and friends are to meet at the Hickman City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
