Parks Weaks

Lexie Parks Weaks, landowner and retired businessman, died peacefully on Friday, November 7, 2008. A native of Fulton, KY, Mr.
Weaks was born July 23, 1922, the son of Leslie Hunter Weaks and Carmen Parks Weaks. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leslie Hunter Weaks. Mr. Weaks was a descendant of several prominent West Kentucky and West Tennessee families. He was a graduate of the Webb School, Bell Buckle, TN and Vanderbilt University. Mr. Weaks was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. While at Vanderbilt, he enlisted in the Army Specialized Training Program and remained at Vanderbilt until the spring of 1943. He was sent overseas with the 103rd Infantry Division to France and Germany where he was assigned to a front line rifle company. He was wounded in action during the rough winter of 1944 in Steige, Germany and received the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and combat infantry medals. Mr. Weaks returned to Vanderbilt and graduated in 1947. He served 32 years as a member of the Board of Directors of the City National Bank and as Vice-President of the bank. He had been a member of the Board of Directors of Atlanta Oak Flooring Company, the Atlanta Plywood and Lumber Company and the McMinnville Manufacturing Company. Mr. Weaks was a member of the Jackson Purchase Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution and a member of the English Speaking Union. Mr. Weaks was a long-time member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Fulton, KY. He served as Senior Warden several times and had been a lay reader for many years. In prior years, Mr. Weaks had been active in numerous civic affairs. He was a member of the Fulton City Board of Education, the Chamber of Commerce and the Fulton Library Board. He served as Board of Directors of the Rotary Club.

Mr. Weaks is survived by his wife Betty Clark Weaks; their three daughters; Carmen Moore (Leland), Mobile, Alabama, Mariana Richardson(Henry), Nashville, TN and Caroline Cramer (John), Lexington, KY; seven grandchildren; Leland Thompson Moore, Jr. (Lucy), and English Parks Moore (Andrea) both of Mobile, AL, Mariana Curry Moore, Birmingham, AL, Caroline Priestly Richardson, Boston, MA,
Hildegard Hunter Richardson, Nashville, TN, Clark Johnston Cramer IV, Savannah, GA, Alexander Parks Cramer, Lexington,KY and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, November 15th at 10:30 a.m. in the parish hall at Trinity Episcopal Church, Fulton, KY. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. A private entombment will be held at the Fairview Mausoleum.
