Kenneth E. Crews

Mr. Kenneth E. Crews a resident of South Fulton died February 12 at Diversicare of Martin. He was 82.

Survivors include his wife of more than 60 years Peggy Ward Crews of South Fulton,TN a son and daughter in law Don and Kim Crews of Dyersburg, TN and a grandson Carter Crews of Dyersburg, TN, one brother R.C. Crews of Union City, TN and several nieces and nephews.

His parents, W. B "Buddy" Crews and Hazel Gray Crews and a brother Jerry Wayne Crews, preceded him in death.

He was born October 21, 1934 in Obion County, TN.

He was an active member of First Baptist Church, Fulton where he served on many different committees, at present is an inactive Deacon and had taught Sunday School for the past 50 years. More recently the Crews Couples Class and Three C's class. He also recently served as chairman of the First Baptist Church Building Finance Committee.

His love for the Lord, His Church and his family were evident in his life. He was an avid golfer most of his life. His years of work as a banker was a joy and his love for other members of this staff were also evident.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was retired with a banking career spanning over 50 years. He began his career with City National Bank in 1962. He served in most positions within the bank being elected President in 1985 and retiring at the end of 1999 as Chairman and CEO of Old National, Fulton. He has served as a member of the board of directors from 1968 until 2002. He was elected to Heritage Bank Board of Directors Hopkinsville,KY in 2002 and served 10 year until his retirement in May of 2013. He continued to serve as a member of the Heritage Bank community board of directors in Fulton and retired in December 2016. In September 2012, he was recognizes and presented a plaque from the Kentucky Bankers Association as a member of the 50 Year Club.



An Obion County native, he has been active in community, civic and church affairs. He served as president of the Fulton Lions Club, two terms as president of the Twin Cities Chamber of Commerce. Previously served as a member of the Obion County Court. Active in economic development, he served as a member of the Fulton Economic Development board of directors from its inception until his retirement. South Kentucky Industrial Development Association named him Kentucky Volunteer of the year for industrial development in 1985. He received the Twin City Citizen of the Year award
in 1978.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm on Tuesday, February 14 at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, February 15 at the First Baptist Church in Fulton with burial to follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens. Mr. Crews will lie in state at the First Baptist Church from 1 pm Wednesday until the funeral hour.
