Mrs. Karen S. Schwartz Gunter, age 77, of South Fulton, TN
passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022 at her residence.
She was born on May 7, 1945 in Traverse City, MI to the late
L.A. "Bud" and Laverne Howe Schwartz.
Karen worked and retired from the University of Tennessee at
Martin where she worked for the Grant Writing Department.
She was a Hickman County High School graduate and
received her masters degree from the University of the
Tennessee at Martin. She lived all of her life in this area.
Karen was known for her famous cinnamon “T-Rings.” Coming hot out
of the oven, they were the highlight of many holidays and celebrations. She
was an amazing seamstress and made custom curtains at one point.
She is survived by her husband, George Ray Gunter to whom
she married August 22, 1964, a son Greg (Shawn) Gunter of
Martin, TN, two daughters: Dawn (Franco) Gabriele of Apollo
Beach, FL and Ginger (Tom) Rento of East Castleton, NY,
five grandchildren: Paige (Conner) Simpson of Martin, TN,
Braxton Gunter of Martin, TN, Abby Gunter of Martin, TN,
Connor and Riley Booth both of East Castleton, NY,
a brother Tim (Joretta) Schwartz of Clinton, KY,
a sister Lynn Ann (Hal) Jones of Clinton, KY, five nephews,
five nieces and a sister-in-law, Betty Schwartz of Colorado
Springs, CO.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother,
Larry Schwartz.
A celebration of life will be held at 1PM Monday, August 22,
2022 in our funeral chapel with burial to follow in the Obion
County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral
home from 11AM Monday until the hour of service.
