J.V. Henry

December 22, 1931 — November 20, 2019

Mr. James Vester (J.V.) Henry passed from this life on November 20, 2019,
at approximately 11:00 PM at his home in South Fulton, TN. He was 87 years
old, having lived a full and productive life with lots of love, family, faith and good
works.

He was born in Rock Creek, Alabama in the winter of 1931 on December
22, the fourth of seven children to the late Elbert Clifton and Reba Taylor Henry.
He grew up in Tuscumbia, AL.

He then entered the United States Army and was a medical assistant, serving
his country in Germany. He returned home and married Jean Wall and they started
life in Memphis before moving to South Fulton where they have resided for the past
56 years. They have three children, Sharon (Bill) Perring of Guthrie, OK, Stephen Henry
of Nashville, TN and Dianne (Kerry) Roberts of Springfield, TN. He is also survived by
seven grandchildren; Matthew (Amanda) Perring, Tyler Perring, Erin Perring, Kaitlyn
(John) Frizzell, Evan Roberts, Nora Roberts, Davis Roberts and one great grandchild,
Ainsley Perring.

He is also survived by three sisters; Marilyn Henry, Janice Dugger and Joicelyn
(David) Gregory all of Nashville, TN, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

J.V. was a member of the Church of Christ, having served as song leader,
teacher, deacon and elder. He installed flooring for many years for the former
S.P. Moore Company in South Fulton. He was a great public servant, having
served the City of South Fulton first as a councilman, vice mayor, then mayor and finally
city manager during the 1980's and 1990's. He also served on the Weakley County
Electric Board of Directors.

J.V. was a caring individual who took his walk with Jesus very seriously and always
strove to live out faith in his life. He leaves an indelible mark on his family and friends.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by three older brothers;
Clifton, Nelson and Elbert.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2PM Sunday in our funeral chapel with burial to
follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from
6-8PM Saturday.
