Judy Ann Deckard Emberton

June 5, 1948 — April 13, 2023

Judy Ann Deckard Emberton, age 74, of Dickson TN, formerly of Fulton, KY, passed away April 13, 2023 at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN, following a battle with COVID and Aspiration Pneumonia.

Judy was born in Tompkinsville, KY on June 5, 1948, a daughter of the late Ardie Ann (Cropper) and Rex Arlie Deckard.

She was a graduate of Tompkinsville High School, class of 1966. She spent the majority of her career in banking and although the bank name changed several times over the years, she was always a staple that customers could depend upon.

She loved to travel and go to different beaches across the country. If there was a beach nearby, she intended to be on it. At retirement she planned to travel and see the world. Unfortunately, the diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease had other plans.

She bravely realized her limitations and totally uprooted her life in Fulton, KY to move to Dickson, TN to be with her loving daughter and son in law who were always readily on hand to see to her needs.

Her son in law, Ronnie, was her best running buddy and on the days her daughter had to work, they were always exploring one adventure after another from riding motorcycles to going to a circus, rodeo, or horse show. Anything they could do to get out of the house and go somewhere, even if it was just playing in the creek, riding on the tractor, or getting the occasional margarita.

Judy is survived by her loving daughter Angela and husband Ronnie Rushing, son Michael and wife Kim Emberton, grandchildren Hannah Emberton and Sam Emberton.

Judy is also survived by a brother Michael Rex Deckard and special friend JoAnn Maulden Reeves of Florida. Sister-in-Law, Theresa Deckard of Tompkinsville, KY. Nieces and nephews: Lisa and husband Mark Wimsatt; Todd and wife Melissa Geralds; Lori and husband Trip Rolke; Leslie and husband Paul Barlow; and Justin Deckard. Two very special friends Patsy Potts of Fulton, KY and Gracie McCoy of Glasgow, KY.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Geralds and Peggy Jane Deckard, her brother Jerry Patrick Deckard and her beloved dog, Puds.

Judy did not want a funeral or visitation. Instead, she desired to be cremated and have her ashes spread along her favorite beach. There will be a marker placed at Monroe County Memorial Lawn, Tompkinsville, KY. A small memorial will be planned at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Judy’s memory may be made to St Jude Children’s Research, The Parkinson's Foundation, or Alive Hospice of Nashville, TN.
