Johnny Alford

We are saddened to share the passing of Mr. Johnny Hassell Alford, who was born on December 12, 1935, in Dyersburg, TN. He was the son of the late Lester and Mary Sue Alford and lived a life full of love and kindness. 

Johnny married Mary Jane Glisson on July 30, 1958. Together, they enjoyed a strong and loving partnership for 67 years. He worked diligently as an iron worker and farmer, but his true joy came from his family. Johnny was known for his selflessness and would do anything for those he cared about. 

He leaves behind two sons, Jacky (Belinda) Alford and Johnny (Darlene) Alford, as well as eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Johnny was preceded in death by his son Bobby Raymond Alford, daughter Carolyn Sue Burkett, three brothers, and one sister. Johnny is lovingly remembered not only for his unwavering dedication to his family but also for those whom he held close to his heart. 

Friends and family are invited to honor Johnny at his funeral service at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 2 PM, with visitation starting at 11 AM. Interment will follow in the Pilot Oak Cemetery. 

Active pallbearers will be, Bobby Doughty, Ryan Doughty, Hunter Doughty, Bobby Gordon, Dennis Dunday and Caleb Yarbro.
