Mr. John McAlister of Fulton died early Saturday morning at Baptist Health in Paducah.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fulton, KY where he served as an usher. He served in the National Guard, had worked as a Switchman for the Illinois Central Railroad until 1988 and also was a farmer. He was a long time faithful University of Kentucky fan and had lived all of his life in this area.
He is survived by his wife, Bettie Williams McAlister to whom he married March 13, 1967 of Fulton, KY, a son Steve (Colleen) Ericksen of Loudon, TN, two grandchildren, Kyle (Tiffany) Ericksen of Louisville, KY, Kelsey
Ericksen of Plainfield, IN, three great grandchildren, Ethan Ericksen, Avery Ericksen, Nolan Ericksen all of Louisville, KY, a sister, Jetty Humphrey of Fulton, KY, three brothers, Duward McAlister of Fulton, KY, Ronald McAlister of Paducah,KY, and Robert McAlister of Dyersburg, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Byron and Genevieve (Byrn) McAlister, two brothers, Joe McAlister and Forrest McAlister and two sisters, Hilda Hurst and Glenda Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM Tuesday in our funeral chapel. Burial will follow in the Wesley Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8PM on Monday.
