Joe Senter Fields

Joseph “Joe” Senter Fields, age 67, of South Fulton, TN, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at the Baptist Memphis Hospital surrounded by his family.

Joe leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Christy, his two loving daughters, Melissa (Frank) Oakes of Hendersonville, TN and Nicole (Joey) Berner of Troy, TN, and three grandchildren, Lucas Berner, Kindred Oakes, and Frank “Finn” Oakes IV. He is also survived by a brother, Hunter (Linda) Fields of Milan, TN and a sister-in-law, Martha C. Horton of Memphis, TN, as well as several nieces, and other family members.

Joe is preceded in death by his father and mother, Gordon and Nancy Fields of Milan, TN and a nephew, Shawn Fields of Milan, TN

Joe is originally from Milan, TN and graduated from Milan High School in 1970.  After completing an associate's degree at Marion Institute in Marion, AL in 1972, he graduated from UT Knoxville in 1974 with a B.S. in Forestry.

During Joe’s forty-plus years in the hardwood manufacturing industry, he was affiliated with several national, state, and regional hardwood lumber associations. He served on the boards of many of them at various times.

Joe will be best remembered for his love of family, UT Vols Football, and the love of the great outdoors.

Funeral services will take place at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 19, 2019, at the Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Milan. Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM service time at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider donations to liver transplant research, American Diabetes Association, and the American Red Cross.
