James R. Legate

Mr. James R. Legate, age 98, of South Fulton, TN passed away on
March 19, 2020 at his home.

Mr. Legate was born on April 1, 1921 in Graves Co., KY to the late
Goble and Nora Richard Legate. He was a member of the South Fulton
Baptist Church and had served as a deacon from 1954 to present, he
had retired from the ICR Railroad in 1982. He was a U.S. Army veteran
who served in World War II, where he attained the rank of Master Sgt.
He received a Purple Heart Medal, Prisoner of War Medal and Good
Conduct Medal, before he was discharged in October of 1945.

He is survived by a daughter Joyce McGregor of South Fulton, TN, five
grandchildren, Tonda Casey of Dukedom, TN, James Bell (Christy) of
Memphis, TN, Connie Bell (Richard) of South Fulton,TN, Tommy Russell
(Rhonda) of Henning,TN and Summer Wood of NC; 13 grandchildren and
23 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Legate was preceded in death by his wife
Jessie Isabell Russell Legate, 2 brothers George Legate and Nathan
Legate, a sister Sarah Brewington and a grandson in law Tim Casey.

arrangements for Mr. James R. Legate will be private. There will be
a memorial service held at the South Fulton Baptist Church at a later
date.***
