James Freeman, age 80, passed away peacefully at his home on December 7, 2016. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Judy Alexander Freeman and four children, Sandy (Chuck) Callis of Jackson, TN; Mary (Mike) Baker of Martin, TN; Sharon (John) Waterfield of Sharon, TN; and David (Deanna) Freeman of Lebanon, TN. "Grandpa" Freeman was especially proud of his ten grandchildren: Meredith Callis, Seth (Mykaela) Waterfield, Lauren Baker, Blake Callis, Isaac (Abby) Freeman, Audrey Waterfield, Nick Freeman, Colton Callis, Allie Baker, Chloe Freeman.
Mr. Freeman is also survived by two brothers Jack (Judy) Freeman and Harry (Carolyn) Freeman, both of Dresden, TN, and a sister, Pearl (Bill) Lawson of Fulton, KY, and two brothers-in-law Tim Alexander of McLemoresville, TN and James Alexander of Jackson, TN. He is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mr. Freeman was born May 21, 1936 in Dresden, TN to the late Jackie Billy (J.B.) and Mary Alice Johnson Freeman. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force, and worked in the glass installation business for over 30 years before retiring from Weakley County Glass in Martin. Mr. Freeman had a natural "green thumb" and loved working in his garden. He lived in the McConnell community for 43 years, and was a member of McConnell Baptist Church. His strong faith, wise counsel, devotion to family and friends will always be remembered.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM Friday in our funeral chapel with burial to follow in the Eastside Cemetery in Martin, TN with Bro. Donald Doster and Bro. Mark Dowdy officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5-8PM Thursday.
