James "Jim" Fortner

Bro. James “Jim” F. Fortner of Dyer, TN, formerly of Hickman went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 6, 2019. 

Bro. Jim was a Baptist minister for 47 years, serving as pastor of Midway Baptist Church near Hickman twice, Emmanuel Baptist Church in Murray, KY and Bible Baptist Church in Eddyville, KY during his ministry.  He also was a CPA at Reed & Company in Mayfield for 18 years.

Bro. Jim was born in Clinton, KY on July 27, 1940 to the late Bro. Henry Atlee Fortner and late Eula Estelle (Dublin) Fortner.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Darnell.

He is survived by his brothers, Bro. Marshall (Martha) Fortner of Cadiz KY, Bro. Tom Fortner of Trenton, TN; sisters, Donna (Bro. Kenneth) Ballinger of Mayfield and Betty Johnson of Dyer, TN and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Midway Baptist Church near Hickman on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. Marshall Fortner, Bro. Tom Fortner and Bro. Kenneth Ballinger officiating.  Burial will be in the Hickman City Cemetery. 

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 AM until service time at Midway Baptist Church on Saturday, August 10^th.
