Hazel "Cookie" Cannon

Hazel "Cookie" Cannon of Hixson, TN where she was a resident since 2004 passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, September 30, 2017. She was born January 3, 1929 in East Liverpool, Ohio to Holli and Missouri Plum Cook. Her parents, two brothers, her sister, and her beloved husband, Bro. James Edwin "Jim" Cannon preceded her in death.

After graduating from Freed Hardeman College and Murray State University she taught 5th grade for nearly 30 years at Lone Oak Elementary School in Paducah, KY. Her role as the wife of a minister was for 45 years, 32 of which were at Lone Oak Church of Christ in Paducah. Upon retiring her ministry became caring for her grandsons as needed. Her encouraging spirit and devout faith were a testimony to all who knew her.

Survivors include her son Phil (Jana) Cannon of Soddy Daisy, TN, two grandchildren Caleb (Jessie) Cannon of Soddy Daisy, TN and Kidron (Rebekah) Cannon of Spring Hill, TN and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends Monday, October 2 at the Clear Creek Church of Christ in Hixson, TN from 5-7PM. A memorial service will follow with Joey Davis officiating. On Tuesday, October 3 the family will receive friends at the Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton, KY from 5-7PM. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 4 at 11AM in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Fulton, KY with David Cannon officiating.
