Harry Daniel Clifton

Harry Daniel Clifton of Dukedom, TN passed away April 10, 2009
at the Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, KY.

He was born January 11, 1930, the third son of the late Bennie Alexander Clifton and Blanch (Brown) Clifton. He grew up in the Beerlerton community
in Hickman Co., KY.

He served in Korea as a US Navy Corpsman attached to the 1st
Marine Division participating in the liberation of Inchon,Seoul and
inthe battle for the Chosin Reservoir. He was discharged in December 1951.

He was an active member in "The Chosen Few", an organization of
Korean War Veterans who had served at the Chosin Reservoir.

After moving to Detroit, he joined the Detroit Police Department where he served for 27 1/2 years rising through the ranks and receiving several awards and citations for bravery. He retired as
Executive Lieutenant in 1981 and became actively engaged in
farming in TN and KY. He was also a member of the Shriners and the Roberts Lodge #172 in Fulton,KY.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Oral Lee (Yates) Clifton of
Dukedom, TN; a son Christopher Alan Clifton of Collierville,TN;
2 grandchildren Alania Ruth Clifton and Christopher Alan Clifton II,and a sister Ruth Clifton Gill of Centerville, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers Aaron
Brown Clifton and Charles Burton Clifon.

Memorial service will be held at the Hornbeak Funeral Chapel at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2009.
Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 noon Saturday until the hour of service.
