George "Jap" Elliott

February 9, 1919 — August 16, 2016

Mr. George "Jap" Elliott of the Ruthville community died Tuesday evening at the Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield.

He was a member of the McConnell Baptist Church and was veteran in
the United States Army where he served in World War II. He received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, and was a member of the Medical Corp. Mr. Elliott retired from the UTM Maintenance Department. He had formerly worked for White Castle in New Jersey, M. Livingston and Company in Fulton, KY and was a custodian at First Baptist Church in Fulton, KY. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 0072.

He is survived by his daughter and son in law Danna and Andy
Williamson of South Fulton, TN, two grandchildren Sarah Nicole (Garrett) Hutchins of Fulton, KY and Sgt Tyler Elliott Williamson stationed at Fort Sill, Lawton, OK, two great-grandchildren Tucker Alan of Fulton, KY and Emma Brooke of Lawton, OK and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Fannie Lou Wood Elliott, his
parents William Taylor and Laura Scott Elliott, five sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 20 at the Hornbeak Funeral Chapel and interment will be in the Clark Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5-8 pm on Friday, August 19.
