Gene A. Moss

Gene Austin Moss passed away, March 30, 2012 after a brief battle with cancer. He died peacefully, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family. Gene was born on April 19, 1929 to the late George and Eunice Moss. He was raised on a farm in Obion County and had a love for farming throughout his life. He worked his own farm until the mid
1970's. He then later worked at Funk's Seed International before
retirement. He was married to the late Bettye Sue Rogers Moss. Theirs was a marriage of great love, laughter and commitment. Also preceding him in death were two brothers and a sister.

He is survived by his brother Alvin Moss of Arlington, KY; son, Dwight Moss of Athens, AL; son, Kim Moss of New Orleans, LA; daughter Tonya Johnson of Jackson, TN; six grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Mr. Moss was known for his kind spirit. He had a strong love for his family and friends and was a man who could be counted on
in a time of need. His strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ gives his family peace knowing that "to be absent from the body, is to be at home with the Lord". 2 Corinthians 5:8

A memorial graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at the Obion Co. Memorial Gardens near Union City, TN. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 12 noon Saturday until time to leave for the cemetery for graveside services.

In lieu of flowers, Mr. Moss requested that donations be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142,Memphis,TN 38148-0142.
