Dorothy Cooley

Mrs. Dorothy Imogine Cooley, 90, went to be with her Lord on July 2, 2018 at Martin, Tennessee. Born in Trenton, Tennessee on March 20, 1928 to the late James and Floy Turner, Mrs. Cooley married Henry Cooley on December 23, 1945. Residing in Hickman, Kentucky they remained a devoted married couple until Mr. Cooley passed on February 10, 2016. Her five siblings, Norma Turner, Copper Turner, Robert Turner, James Turner, and Jaqueline Somerfield also preceded her in death.

Known for her tenacity, generosity, and humility, Mrs. Cooley was a devout Roman Catholic that provided guidance and compassion to countless people through personal outreach, charitable contributions, and volunteer work. Her vivacity was demonstrated over her lifetime through her extraordinary wit, dedication to physical fitness, and love of dancing with her husband.

Mrs. Cooley is survived by her son, Thomas Cooley; daughter-in-law, Sharon Cooley; three grandchildren, Tammy Pleimann, Terri Fitch, and Samuel Cooley; and five great grandchildren, Brandon Pleimann, Adam Pleimann, Cameron Fitch, Cortney Fitch, and Thomas Connell.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, located at 411 E. Moulton St, Hickman, Kentucky. A prayer service will be held during that time at 6:00 P.M. A funeral mass will be conducted by Father Drury at Sacred Heart on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. Friends and family are welcome to attend and pay respect to Mrs. Cooley at the visitation, prayer service, and mass. A private burial will be held with only immediate family in attendance.

In Lieu of flowers, the family is asking that the donations be made in Mrs. Cooley’s name to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
