Don Burnette

Mr. Don Burnette, age 76, of Fulton, KY passed away on Sunday,
July 5, 2020 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, TN.

Mr. Burnette was born on May 4, 1944 in Fulton, KY to the late
Naylor and Mary Kay Watkins Burnette. He was a member of the
Union Church where he served as an elder. He was also a member
of the Lions Club and had served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was
the owner of the former Burnette Tractor Company in Fulton and had
lived in this area all of his life.

Don was an accomplished athlete where he was recruited by numerous
Universities for football and basketball including the University of Alabama's,
Bear Bryant. He elected to play basketball at the University of Houston and later
finished his career at the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Don was a member of the Fulton City High School's last regional basketball
championship team in 1962 and also was a member of the Kentucky All State
Football Team in 1962.

After college, he participated for several years with many local softball and
basketball teams and then later devoted his time to youth sports.

Don is survived by his wife Barbara Louise Starnes Burnette of Fulton
whom he married December 28, 1969; two daughters and sons in law:
Stacie Britt (Tim) of South Fulton, TN and Jennifer Brown (Keath) of
Tampa, FL and a son Michael Don Burnette of South Fulton, TN; five
grandchildren: Skylar Britt and Summer Britt, both of Oxford, MS, Beau
Britt, Lyla Burnette, both of South Fulton, TN and Jack Brown of Tampa,
FL.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Burnette was preceded in death by a sister, Judy
Kay Burnette and two brothers, Jack Naylor Burnette and Butch Burnette.

A graveside service will be held a 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 7 at the
Union Cemetery near Fulton. Visitation will be at the Union Church starting
at 12 noon until time to move to cemetery for graveside service.
