Mr. David K. Homra of Paducah and formerly of Fulton, KY died Tuesday, November 11,2008 at the Western Baptist Hospital.
He was a member of the First United Church in Fulton, KY and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. He served with the Merrill's Marauders 5307th Composite Unit. He was assigned to the long
range penetration special force unit that fought in the China and Burma campaign from 1943 to 1944. The men of Merrill's Marauders all shared the
rare distinction of being awarded the Bronze Star for their efforts during these two campaigns. He was a graduate of Fulton City High School and he attended the University of Kentucky. He was the owner/operator of K.
Homra's Clothing in Fulton for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #72 in Fulton. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Fulton Country Club and a faithful supporter and fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats.
He is survived by two daughers and a son in law - Deborah & Lon Amerman of Louisville,KY and Denise Jacobs of Raleigh, NC. Two sons and daughters
in law - Kim & Sue Homra and Dan and Wendy Homra all of Paducah, KY. A sister - Mary Hollinger of Louisville, KY;six grandchildren: Melissa Bell & Allison Jacobs, both of Raleigh, NC, Taylor Amerman of Louisville, KY, Katie
Homra , David Homra and Paige Buckner all of Paducah and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is close friend and companion - Eleanor Corey.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years - Donna F. Homra, his parents - Kimlen and Wadia (Massad) Homra, five sisters - Amaline Homra,
Yvonne Hunter, Adelle Intindola, Gladys Owens and Katherine Conroy.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Saturday, November 15, 2008 at the Hornbeak Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in the Fairview Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 pm Saturday until the funeral hour. Also a visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 14th from 4-7 pm at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home in Paducah, KY.
