Conley Hunt Barclay passed away suddenly on January 22, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
Conley was born on October 5, 1955, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky to Ann McDade Hunt and the late Herbert Hobson Hunt, III. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, William Jeff Barclay, to whom she was married for 45 years. She is also survived by twin daughters, Carrie Barclay Anderson (Ryan) and Laura Barclay Connerley (Daniel); grandchildren, Ruby Caroline Anderson, Betsy Kinsey Anderson, Hunt William Connerley, and Branton Herbie Connerley; brothers Cliff Hunt (Louise), and Dade Hunt (Tricia); and many nieces and nephews.
Bubba, as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, was considered as the best wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, and friend by all who knew her. She attended the University of Kentucky and was a noted UK Wildcat Fan and member of Chi Omega sorority. She was also the greatest communicator, organizer and the most fun travel partner for her family and many friends. At the many events planned by Conley there was always laughter and great food. She loved entertaining at the Barclay home, Wildcat Lodge, on Pickwick Lake and loved most everything about life at the lake.
She eagerly volunteered when called upon and her many accomplishments include Executive Director of The Banana Festival in Fulton, Kentucky, multiple Women’s Golf Club Championships at Chickasaw Country Club, and Chair of Les Passees Stock Exchange. She was a loyal volunteer for The Salvation Army Auxiliary, Arise to Read, and Meals on Wheels. Conley was an active member of Christ Methodist Church and their Women’s Ministry.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents Ruby Conley McDade, Maxwell Fowler McDade, Sr., Dorothy Sullivan Hunt, and Herbert Hobson Hunt, Jr.
Services will be held in the sanctuary at Christ Methodist Church, 4488 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee, with visitation at 10:00AM Friday, January 28, 2022. with the service to follow at 12:00 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at 2PM Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church in Fulton, KY. Visitation will be held at the church from 1PM Saturday, April 30, 2022 until the hour of service.
