Charles Glenn Puckett

Colonel Charles “Glenn” Puckett formerly from
Water Valley, KY passed away September 29,
2023, at the Shady Lawn Nursing and Rehab in
Cadiz, KY at the age of 97.

He was born in the family home in Water Valley,
KY on September 29,1926 to the late Esta Ellen
Hedge Puckett & William Limuiel Puckett.

Glenn was an Army and Air Core Veteran in the
Pacific Theater during World War II and tells the
story of him walking into the Army when he was
only 17 turning 18 in the Philippines killing
mosquitoes the size of turkeys and came out
of the service flying planes. He loved flying
airplanes, and he owned 14 private planes
within his 57 years of flying and had over 5,000
hours in the air once he left the service. Glenn
was a life member and a full Colonel with CAF
(Confederate Air Force) and a Kentucky Colonel.

He loved duck-hunting and living on Kentucky Lake
for 40 years, Glenn liked to fish, but he would tell you
the way he really liked to fish was to have them brought
to his table ready to eat. He also loved to watch the
University of Kentucky play basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Glenn came out of service working as a bundle boy for H.I.S
Sportswear in Fulton KY. He worked his way up the ladder to
become the plant manager of H.I.S. He also started and helped
run the South Fulton H.I.S. plant as well. Once he retired, he
started a little side sewing contractor business in the old
schoolhouse where he attended school in Water Valley.
He had the highest basketball score and that record stood
until they closed the Water Valley School House. He sold
“Glenn’s contractors Inc.” to the company he was sewing
for, and they moved the business to Fulton KY, which is still
up and running to this day.

He is survived by a son Daniel G. Puckett of Nashville TN,
a daughter Rebecca “Becky” J. Marshall, two grandchildren:
Kirsten M. Irvin and Sarah Marshall, two great grandsons:
Maddox and Haden Irvin. All from Murfreesboro TN and
a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his late
wife, Pat King and a son, David G. Puckett and his siblings:
Odell, Cortez, Mable, Harold and Maureen.
