Mr. Bobby Joe Walker, age 76, of Indianapolis, IN, and formerly of Water Valley, KY died Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis, IN.
He was born in Martin, TN, on August 29, 1935, and moved to Dresden, TN, where he attended school. His U.S. Air Force service sent him to Vietnam, Cuba, Christmas Island, and Germany. He retired from the
U.S. Air Force in 1975, after serving 23 years, and relocated to Water Valley, KY, where he then worked 20 years at the U.S. Post Office. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dresden, TN.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Walker, and a sister, Frances Corum, of LaGrange, KY, three nieces, six nephews, eight great-nephews, five great-nieces, nine great-great nieces and nephews, and one sister-in-law, Elois Walker of Stafford, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Iversan Walker and Katie Walker Yates, three brothers, William, Cecil, and Kenneth Walker, and his step-father, Calvin Yates, and two sisters-in-law Opal Walker and Betty Walker.
Military graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 11 at the Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Pastor Kenneth Richards will officaite.
Visitation will be at Bowlin Funeral Home in Dresden from 9:00 am until time to go to the cemetery.
