Betty Jean Gordon

Assistant Pastor Elder Betty Jean Gordon was born on October 7, 1942 in Hickman, KY to Frank Houston and Verna Mae Douglas. She was married to Elder Bennie Gordon Sr. who preceded her in death.

Betty was formerly employed at Ferry Morse Seed Company for a number of years. Betty was an active member of her community. She was a mentor for the schools of Fulton. She was a member of the Red Hatters.

Betty was a member of The United Church of the Living God since 1961. At church she was a praise leader, choir member, Missionary, an Ordained Elder, a recipient of “most faithful member” award. She was also a Sunday School Superintendent, General Assembly Delegate, a Supreme Council Member. She was a coordinator for annual day and programs. She also served on the hospitality committee. Since 2006 she was Assistant Pastor. Betty was a loving mother to all lives she touched.

On January 11, 2018 she departed this life leaving to mourn her passing five children: Danny Douglas of Madison, WI; Bertha (Harold) Ware of Janesville, WI; Dorothy Mason of Monroe, WI; Reca (Tuffy) Davis of Beloit, WI; Bennie Jr (Denelle) Gordon of Freeport, IL; Siblings: Lossie, Larry, Fairrene, Paul, Elaine, Jewell, Tammy, Dorothy, James; Ten grandchildren: LaToria, JacQuay, Eric, Zec’kiah, Jermaine, Ericka, Kendra, Bennie III, Jayden, Baxton; Eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by parents Frank and Verna Mae Douglas, Husband Elder Bennie Gordon Sr., Lon and Jennie B Martin, Rosa B Ingram, Frank Houston Douglas Jr., Alice Douglas.

held at The United Church of the Living God, 609 Martin Luther King Drive, Fulton, KY 42041.
