Richard Doyle Roberts

Richard “Dickie” Doyle Roberts, 71, of Hickman, KY died peacefully at his home on Tuesday afternoon, May 30, 2017 as he desired. Dickie was a lifelong devoted St. Louis Cardinal fan. He was an avid duck hunter, enjoying it even during his illness. He also had an abiding love of animals as evidenced by his passion for feeding and caring for the animals, birds and assorted wildlife that found sanctuary in his back yard. Dickie was born in Hickman on October 31, 1945 to the late Hallis Thomas “Ted” Roberts and the late Lorene (Buckelew) Roberts Newton. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and worked in the maintenance department at the former Goodyear Plant in Union City, TN until his retirement. Dickie was of Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe Roberts and Jimmy Roberts and sister, Del Rhea Adams. Survivors include his wife, Marian Kay (Graves) Roberts of Hickman and two sisters, Brenda (Roberts) McMullin of Pevely, MO and Tonnia (Roberts) Lopez of Gulfport, FL Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M., Friday, June 2nd at Strong Funeral Home with Rev. Henry Callison officiating. The family will receive visitors on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Hickman City Cemetery with the Revs. Rose Bogal-Albritten and Chuck McMillen conducting the committal service. John Barnett, Joe Black, Travis Bone, David Carlton, Jacob McKinnis, Bart White, Dan White and Matt White will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Buzz Blincoe, David Blincoe, Dukie Jennings and Unie McKinnis.
