Terry Glynn Pickett

Terry Glynn Pickett, 85, died February 6, 2017 at his home in Hickman with his wife and daughters at his side. Mr. Pickett was born February 2, 1932 in Hickman, KY to the late Henry Swayne Pickett and late Maggie Lee (Kemp) Pickett. After high school, he attended Holmes Junior College and Mississippi State University where he met and married his wife of 64 years, Bobbie Jean (Jones) Pickett. Mr. Pickett served in the military before beginning his career in the construction industry with the US Army Corps of Engineers. Although he spent the majority of his time working in the Cairo, IL office, Mr. Pickett spent six years in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia before retiring with 35 years of service with the Corps of Engineers. Mr. Pickett was a member of the West Baptist Church and attended the First Christian Church in Hickman. Mr. Pickett is survived by his wife, Bobbie Pickett; his daughters, Sandy Johnson, of Hickman, Sherry (Jack) Amberg from Houston, TX, and Melody (Dave) Turner from Santa Maria, CA; grandchildren, Dakota Johnson from Washington, DC, Quinn Johnson of Hickman, Benjamin (Kathryn) Amberg from Houston, TX, Adam (Emily) Amberg from Mauritius, Erik (Courtney) Bennett from Smyrna, TN, Leif Bennett from Aspen, CO, Austin (Summer) Bennett from Murfreesboro, TN and Olivia Turner from Santa Maria, CA; and great grandchildren Remedy and Denver Bennett from Murfreesboro and Lynnox Bennett of Smyrna, TN. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Strong Funeral Home in Hickman with Steve Coulson of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Hickman City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Benjamin Amberg, Dakota Johnson, Quinn Johnson, James Coffey, Hal Coffey, Jackie Duncan, and Paul Billings. Adam Amberg will serve as an honorary pallbearer. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 AM until service time at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 9, 2017.
