Eugene King, Jr.

Eugene King, Jr., 44 of Hickman died on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at his home.   He was employed as a material handler at the Green Plains Renewable Energy Co. in Troy, TN and a member of the First Church of God in Hickman.  Eugene was a retired volunteer fireman with the Hickman Fire Department.   Eugene was born on August 26, 1969 in Granite City, IL to the late Leo Eugene King, Sr. and Brenda (Yates) King Johnson.   In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, David King.   Survivors include his mother, Brenda (Yates) Johnson of Hickman; daughter, Kayla (King) Garrett Somerfield of Hickman; brothers, Donald King of Elsberry, MO, Lynn Bailey, Jr. and Mike Bailey, both of Hickman; sisters, Kathy (King) Brian Turner of Rives, TN, Robin (Bailey) Jeff Gooding of Hickman and Legena (King) Sean Erwin of Owensville, MO; granddaughter, Zoie Somerfield and two special young men he raised as his own sons, Kevin & Kyle Freeman of Union City, TN   Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the First Church of God in Hickman with Rev. Gary Poe officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hickman City Cemetery.    Friends may call at Strong Funeral Home on Saturday, April 12th after 5:00 PM and on Sunday after 12 noon at the First Church of God.
